There is one secondary school in the area; the Mary Webb Science College at Pontesbury. The school also offers a range of adult education sessions. Students from the area also attend Bishop’s Castle Community college and Welshpool High School. Primary schools are in Pontesbury, Minsterley, Hope, Norbury, Stiperstones, Chirbury and Churchstoke. The nearest post 16 facilities are at the Bishop’s Castle Community College, Shrewsbury, Ludlow or Newtown.
Land-based skills are taught outside the area at Walford and North Shropshire College, Harper Adams University College and at Holme Lacy College in Herefordshire. Vocational and management skills are also available through the Lantra scheme at SASTAK, Craven Arms.
A range of traditional countryside skills for the keen amateur are available through Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, outside the area, to the east.
